Hope this has a screening in Ireland, it looks great
Will it ever be put on veoh or anywhere to watch? I don’t think I’ll ever be lucky enough to make it to a screening, but if I am I totally will
Comment by Meaiiii 10.10.10 @ 7:34 pmI was at last night’s screening of THE EXTERNAL WORLD at the Ottawa Animation Festival. It blew me away.
I was disappointed not to see music credits in the film’s credits or on the website. I would like to know the name and composer of the piece the young boy was learning to play. I play piano and want to learn it myself, which will be much more pleasant for me than for your boy, since I will be learning without a fish or disembodied hand smacking me in the back of the head every time I foul up.
Could you please post the song credits on your film website?
THE EXTERNAL WORLD is a terrific short. I’m glad I had the opportunity to see it.
Comment by Nat 10.24.10 @ 1:33 pmi cant wait, please
Comment by ALIRIZA 11.07.10 @ 1:09 pmI was at Eyeworks the other week, saw the short, and thought it was absolutely magnificent. Stellar as always!
Comment by Maz 11.15.10 @ 1:56 amIt was definitely my favourite of all the shorts at The Cork Film Festival this year. Don’t think any other screening had everyone so amazed and absolutely shaking with laughter! You have a genius head. Well done!

It gets one thinking about things that we generally push aside in contemporary society.
Thanks.
This is by far the most interesting animation I’ve ever witnessed. Thank you for enlightening me. People like you are the reason I wanna keep looking at art.
much appreciation!
An absolutely A1 mind-blowing, mind-fuck of a film. You never what it going to do from one second to the next. Deliciously disturbing and utterly original. Thank you. More please.
Comment by David Benson 03.13.11 @ 3:07 amNO I AM THE MOST IMPRESSED!!!
Comment by Daniel 03.17.11 @ 5:39 pmgreat work, you do the name proud – wish I had half the imagination and resolve you have.
regards
Dave O’Reilly (not the artist)
Romance is different. Anyplace in the romantic mood couldn’t be killed. Romance is a month, which implies to talk in regards to the day. But you can talk about the evening. The fate of fallen flowers of romance articles solely envy, and I do not assume flowers and delightful smile. Romance is a big different.
Comment by bistro table 03.25.11 @ 4:45 amMaybe you may want to add a twitter button to your site. I just bookmarked the blog, however I must do it by hand. Simply my 2 cents.

Comment by Edna 04.05.11 @ 6:20 pmit is really rare that a cartoon can impact me this intensely. youve really let yourself loose, your mind flowing outwardly. its daring. wow.Im an animation director… been there done that… however THE EXTERNAL WORLD gets right under my skin. i will let it affect my future work. its inspiring. very. chris minzzzzzzzz THANKS FOR MESSING UP MY HEAD THIS MORNING. EEEEEEEEEEEK.
Comment by chris minzz 04.08.11 @ 1:46 ami have let your short film… WHICH IS REALLY SUBCUTANEOUS!!!… affect my feature film, The amorphous mind police factor. I’ve let it have a DIRECT effect. my film has dark moments for sure. Im shooting some of the last bits now… You’ve helped me find a new layer of dark depth. ha ha ha ha haaaaa.. .love it. thanks.

I found this to be compelling, at times funny, at times sad, always disturbing and very beautiful. It’s like a cracked-out Code Unknown. Glad to have seen it!
Comment by Sam Marine 04.13.11 @ 8:56 pmSólo hablo español, así y todo disfruté muchísimo de esta animación, su ironía.Muchas gracias.
Comment by Sergio Cavazza 04.16.11 @ 5:33 pmAbsurd. Beautiful. Sad. Hilarious.
I have two questions though:
1. Any relation to Bill O’Reilly?
2. Where can I get an mp3 version of the young man’s piano piece? It’s hauntingly familiar . . .

Comment by Marol 05.27.11 @ 9:35 pmSilence is spreading to my fingertips, should I be hospitalized at there’s nothing wrong with you, or be eating my nails instead?
Comment by Julia 05.28.11 @ 10:43 pmI generally appreciate but rarely lend validity to the attempts to summarize the nature of existence in the arts. This is the closest thing to pointed in the right direction so far. It’s also possibly the most moving thing I’ve seen in the last five years – and I’m an avid moviegoer and filmmaker.
Well done. Keep at it. Or don’t.

Comment by Buster Blakeney 06.12.11 @ 9:42 pmThis is why I am an animator. David, you really are a master.
Comment by Ryan 07.14.11 @ 5:37 pmHow did you come into my internal world?
Very, very good.
an excellent movie, so weird, ironic, i loved the sarcastic humor of the animation.
congratulations its a great movie
Comment by moises alvarez 08.02.11 @ 10:47 pmAmazing. You have to watch the movie again and then pause it at some frames. The writings in the background, the pictures, … everything seems so smooth integraded in this scary bizarre external world. It’s like a dream which teaches you so much, although the price is high: it’s pure horror.
All in all I hope to see a full length movie – but I would like to experience more separat scenes who are melting into one in a third sequence.
As far as I heard was the song the young boy played “Moonlight Sonata” – the First Movement – from Ludwig van Beethoven. (The 1st Mvt. is very slow in contrarty to the 3st Mvt. which is very, very fast)
Hope to see more of this geniously work.
Comment by Smäx 08.05.11 @ 4:27 pmgreat!

Comment by Boris 09.01.11 @ 6:25 amTotally awesome and really refreshing. Not complete mind numbing bullshit. Thank you so goddamn much.
Comment by S 09.07.11 @ 4:38 amThe work is very interesting. Just after you start to watching it, you begin to worry that it will end soon…frustrating feeling.
Two questions:
1. Why the world is external while it is internal?
2. Why the main stream of this work is the violence? (Eee stupid question, without violence it wouldn’t be so interesting).
At the end: good job. Cong-rat-ula-t-ions!
